Weight & Food
Maintaining a good weight is healthy for your heart and body.
Healthcare workers have a calculation using weight and height to determine a healthy weight, called Body Mass Index (BMI).
This BMI calculator can tell you your BMI by using your age, weight and height.
The 2 simplest ways to lose weight are:
- Eat Better
Transition from meats, sugary, processed, and fatty foods to more poultry, fish, vegetables and fruits. "If it comes in a box, it will put you in a box." - Eat Less
Over time eating a large amount of food stretches your stomach, and then it takes a large amount of food to feel full. If you are used to filling your plate, use a smaller plate, it looks full but has less food. Your stomach will take a while to shrink, but it will result in you losing weight and you won't have to eat as much to feel full.
If losing weight is something that you want to do, it is helpful to have close support. Talk with those close to you who may want to take the same path.
